Top 5 Electric Bike Long Range Tips

Do you worry about the range of your electric bike?  Would you like to know some tricks for extending your e-bike's range when you have that extra errand to run and your battery is depleted? There are some tips you can use to make the most out of your electric bike ride, as range is a common concern among e-bikers.  I have included some additional tips that may help you add a few extra miles or kilometers to your e-bike's range.

Tip No. 1: Charge a New Electric Bike Battery for 12 Hours

When you first get a new electric bike, you should fully charge its battery for up to 12 hours. Long initial charging ensures that current flows through all the cells and helps to condition the battery right out of the box.

Tip No. 2: Charge Your Ebike Battery Regularly

Regular use, and therefore regular charging, should prolong the life of lithium chemistry batteries used on EVELO electric bikes and really most electric bikes.
The majority of the time, you don't have to completely discharge your electric bike battery. Charge the battery when the capacity is between 30 percent and 60 percent.
However, some battery experts recommend an occasional full discharge, perhaps once every 30 to 40 charges. Otherwise, stick with 30 to 60 percent.

Tip No. 3: Avoid Temperature Extremes

Like most electric bike riders, electric bike batteries are influenced by the weather. A moderate temperature is best. A battery on an electric bike should be kept at moderate temperatures both during use and while charging. Just like you, the battery on an EVELO Delta prefers moderate temperatures. A battery should be charged in an environment that is warmer than freezing and not hotter than 110 degrees Fahrenheit at the extremes. But why do it that way? During charging, the temperature should be between 60 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tip No. 4: Don’t Overcharge an Electric Bike Battery

Charge the electric bike battery for several days or more - not just a few hours. By doing so, you can cause the battery to lose some of its capacity, leaving it at perhaps 95 percent. When the charger kicks in, the battery will be topped off. There are many poor charging cycles as a result of this cycle of minor discharges and topping off. To remember to remove the battery from the charger, set a timer on your mobile device.

Tip No. 5: Don’t Store an Empty Battery

Battery storage is sometimes necessary for electric bikes. Maybe you're planning a vacation. The weather might be too cold to ride. No matter how you store the battery, don't allow it to be empty. Instead, make sure it is at about 40-70 percent of its full capacity.
